Shady Rest Lodge features a variety of lodging and accommodations perfect for all vacations, including family vacations, retreats, weekend getaways and reunions. Located in Rhinelander, Shady Rest Lodge offers 1 - 3 bedroom cottages, as well as rooms and suites in our lodge, and a rental home. All accommodations are located on crystal clear Manson Lake, giving you a beautiful view. Because we are located on a peninsula, many of our cottages provide you with more than one view of the lake. On site dining, beach activities, fishing, boating and waterskiing, and family activities are all offered at Shady Rest Lodge, making your stay fun for every member of your family!

Amenities
During the mid summer we operate on the Modified American Plan- providing breakfast and evening dinner, daily maid and linen service, water skiing ( all afternoon), use of paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, sail boats, and row boats, use of mountain bikes, tennis, sand volleyball, daily kids’ activities, and evening family activities.
During the early and late season we also offer the European Plan, which includes rental of a lake-front cottage, bed linens, and use of a row boat. Other amenities are available at an extra charge.
Our Beach
Our clean beach is a great place to spend your afternoon just lounging on the beach chairs, napping in the hammock, finishing that favorite book or just soaking up the sun. For the children the beach is asafe and fun place to play on the playground equipment or splash in the water--there are no sudden drop offs and the swimming area is shallow for quite a distance before hitting the deeper water. We also have an anchored float in the swimming area called a Super Bouncer on which guests can jump and play.
Under the Modified American Plan all kayaks, canoes, sailboats, and paddleboats are ready and available for your enjoyment. European Plan guests may use these boats for an additional fee. We have a large selection of life jackets for all ages which are required with the use of any boat.
The beach is our most popular gathering spot during the afternoon hours. Come and see why so many consider our beautiful sandy beach to be one of the highlights of the week.

Water Skiing & Instruction
The water skiing at the resort is available at no charge to our Modified American Plan guests. During the season when European Plan is offered water skiing is available at an additional charge.
Each afternoon our staff takes our ski boats out to provide hours of skiing, tubing, knee boarding, and wakeboarding. Our boats, a Correct Craft Ski Nautique and a Mastercraft. are inboards, equipped with 351 Ford V-8 engines. One is equipped with a boom for teaching. We have taught children as young as 3 years old. The staff is trained to provide you with instruction and encouragement. Over the years the skiing program has become the favorite afternoon activity. Because we have and abundance of equipment we assure you that you will enjoy a full afternoon of skiing.
