My father, Maurie, had rules.
Be
generous in spirit and behavior. Use the highest quality ingredients, and
never rush the process.
And always keep Maurie's chocolate recipes
a family secret.
My father started his business in 1941 in Pekin, Il.
Although he had to work long hours to provide for his family, he
considered himself satisfied and successful. After he died, in 1991, my
mother, my sister and I sold that store, but not the secret recipes.
In 1993, I opened a shop on Monroe Street near my home in
Madison, Wisconsin and named it Maurie's. My customers tell me the
chocolate is fabulous. It is the best they have ever tasted.
I still carefully hand dip the chocolates, cook the
caramel in copper kettles, and keep the recipes secret.
At Maurie's Fine Chocolates and
Candies, as you enter our shop you'll be greeted with the sweet aroma
