Superior
There's More to Our Shores

Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Superior in the northwestern corner of Wisconsin, the City of Superior features spectacular scenery and recreational opportunities as well as historical attractions, events and festivals, and great dining, shopping, lodging and nightlife. In all four seasons, Superior is an outdoor paradise to be enjoyed by the sports enthusiast as well as the nature lover. Whether you're a visitor or resident, Superior offers memorable experiences for everyone!

 Business & Community

A progressive city supported by a strong business climate, Superior is a great place for business and a great  place to live. Excellent educational resources are provided by University of Wisconsin - Superior and the Indianhead Technical College. The friendly community celebrates its beautiful surroundings  with a variety of festivals and events all year long. There are dog sled races in January, the Head of the Lakes Fair in July, outdoor summer concerts, the Barker's Island Sailboat Regatta in September, and many more activities for the whole family. The community is proud of its maritime and historical attractions. The Fairlawn Mansion & Museum, a beautiful Victorian mansion, is recognized as one of America's castles. The S.S. Meteor Maritime Museum features one of the world's last remaining whaleback ships.

Outdoor Recreation

The Superior area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts all year round. On Lake Superior, the world's largest inland lake, you can take a harbor cruise, sail, swim and enjoy many other water activities. Anglers in spring enjoy some of the best fishing in the state with catches of chinook, coho salmon, walleye and lake trout. Musky, northern pike, walleye, bass, panfish, trout, sturgeon and catfish can be found in the 431 inland lakes in the area. In the summer adventurers can canoe, go whitewater rafting, or kayak through rapids. There is golfing on a 36-hole championship public golf course, hiking, biking, and camping and much more.

In the fall when the area foliage turns brilliant colors,  driving, hiking, and biking through the beautiful countryside is a popular pastime. Gun and bow hunting season opens in fall with deer, black bear, duck, rabbit, squirrel and grouse being plentiful, making it one of the best spots for hunting in the state. When the area becomes a winter wonderland, there are many trails for great cross country skiing, ATVing, smowmobiling or just snowshoeing. Ice fishing, ice skating, watching a dog sled race or a ski race are also popular winter past times.
