But this northwestern Wisconsin community is more than beautiful woods and clean sparkling water. The area features a sense of community and history with festivals and events throughout the year, a railroad museum and historic train rides, historic buildings, heritage walking tour, unique shopping, antique and craft shops and lots of family fun.

Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy fishing, hunting, swimming, scuba diving, boating, canoeing and kayaking on the beautiful lakes, rivers and streams. The area features great hunting, including whitetail deer, black bear, waterfowl grouse and small game, as well as great fishing for muskies, northern, bass, walleye and trout. In fact, the area is known as the both the bluegill  and walleye capital! Bird watchers have a feast of opportunities for seeing many bird varieties in their natural habitats, including protected species, such a bald eagles, ospreys and loons. Hundreds of miles of trails provide fantastic opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
