The area has over 900 acres of parks, trails and recreational facilities for hiking, biking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Fishing can be enjoyed year-round. Some of the best fishing in Wisconsin is found on the Wolf River which hosts the earliest walleye fishing in the spring, as well as white bass, small and large mouth bass, northern pike, and catfish. The Mosquito Hill Nature Center and other wildlife areas offer miles of hiking, snowshoe, and cross-country ski trails as well as great wildlife viewing. Golfing at the Shamrock Heights Golf and Supper Club, trail riding on horses, and hunting are popular activities in the area too. The Heritage Historical Village in New London is a must see. This village contains five restored buildings including an octagon house, schoolhouse, log cabin and a chapel. This is also the site of a historic Chicago & North Western Railroad depot and a railroad museum that includes an 1888 Soo Line caboose, a Chicago & North Western caboose, Soo Line boxcar, and a diesel locomotive. The depot displays a selection of railroad artifacts and memorabilia. Shopping, Dining & Lodging Shopping in historic downtown New London is a fun experience! Dock your boat at Taft Park and stroll through stores and shops that feature specialty items and gifts, natural supplements, home accessories, pets, coffee drinks, ice cream treats, and more! There are many places to eat in the area. Dining establishments include supper clubs, bars and grills, restaurants, a buffet, and family eateries. Enjoy Italian, Mexican, Oriental, Steaks and Seafood, or various American fares. You can even dine on the riverfront. New London features accommodations and amenities for all types of travelers. Annual Events and Festivals Annual events and activities include a car show, fishing weekend, powered parachute fly-in, River Rat Challenge, concerts, multiple nature related activities, and much more.
