Business & Industry

The City of Menomonie has a strong economic base, including agricultural, retail, service and industrial. Over 200 retailers and several  manufacturers such as ConAgra Grocery Products, 3 M Company, Anderson Corporation, and many others have facilities in Menomonie. With the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus and the Chippewa Valley Technical College located in Menomonie, well-educated and  technically trained graduates in many diversified career oriented fields are available for the area's workforce.

Community & Historical Attractions

Menomonie is a active community with a beautiful historic downtown. Stroll down Menomonie's Main Street, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and also designated as a local historic district. Nearby relieve the logging camp era in the award-winning Empire in Pine Lumber Museum with blacksmith shop, 1865 post office, village jail, muzzle-loading  bunks, and rare up-and-down saw. The Russell J. Rassbach Heritage Museum and Caddie Woodlawn Historic Park give glimpses in to the area's past including a civil war exhibit , children's discovery room, Victorian rooms, and the days of the covered wagons, log cabins and frontier country.

At the 107 year old Tainter Memorial, which is among America's top historic theaters, you can enjoy performing and visual arts. The Tainter features a Victorian theater, art gallery, public reading room, and gift shop. Menomonie Theater Guild presentations, UW-Stout drama and music presentations, arts festivals, museums and band concerts in the park give many opportunities to enjoy cultural activities. The whole family can also enjoy plenty of fun and lots of good food at Menomonie's Summer Funfest, Winter Carnival, and Tainter Days, as well as numerous area 4th of July celebrations, including snowmobile water cross races. Many other festivals throughout the year as well as the Dunn County Fair complete the list of area celebrations.

 Recreational Activities

Diverse recreational attractions and activities are plentiful in the Menomonie area. From public hunting grounds to fishing, from golf to hiking and snowmobiling, there is something for everyone in Menomonie. Dunn County has 3,364 acres of lakes and 198 miles of trout streams. Panfish, bass, walleye, northern pike, and trout are abundant in the county's lakes and streams. Canoeing is a favorite pastime, with three canoe trails covering over 77 miles of beautiful scenery and  many public access points. There are numerous launching sites for the boating enthusiast. Whether it's water skiing, swimming, sail boarding, fishing or just a scenic ride, there are many lakes to choose from. And in Menomonie you'll also find a complete water park. Public and private campgrounds, tennis courts, four different golf courses in Menomonie and Colfax , and horseback riding trails are all available. The hunter will find pheasant, partridge, squirrel, duck and whitetail deer throughout the county. The 14.5 mile Red Cedar State Trail follows the Red Cedar River from Menomonie to Dunnville, and with its crushed limestone surface, is perfect for hiking, biking, cross country skiing or just strolling! The Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area also provides hiking trails that traverse through  prairie, woodland and  wetlands as well as 60-foot tower with  views of a four county area. Snowmobile trails are also found throughout the area. Leisurely countryside drives and walks as well as apple picking in numerous orchards are also popular activities for all to enjoy.

In addition to a variety of retail stores to fulfill your every need, the area boasts many wonderful antique shops, craft, and specialty stores. From a  historic saloon to family dining and fine dining in supper clubs and country inns, there is delicious food to satisfy everyone's cravings and more in Menomonie. A variety of lodging awaits the traveler, including campgrounds, bed and breakfast inns, family motels,  and Victorian inns.
