Outstanding outdoor recreation is available year round  in Eau Claire County.  Extensive trails along the Chippewa and Eau Claire Rivers offer spectacular views to hikers and bicyclists in summer and snowmobilers and cross country skiers in the winter. In addition, nearby ski hills provide great local skiing in the winter. On the area's crystal clear lakes and rivers water sports enthusiasts will enjoy great  fishing, swimming, boating, canoeing, and other water activities. Nature lovers will be delighted by the diversity of habitats and wildlife observed in the Beaver Creek Reserve, including bears, deer and wild turkeys. Many fine area golf courses provide challenging golf for both the novice and the experienced golfer

The Eau Claire Regional Arts Center brings in national touring groups as well as providing home stage to local groups such as Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild and Eau Claire Children’s Theatre. In addition, the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and local dinner theaters feature a variety of theatrical productions, including comedies and musicals. The Chippewa Valley Symphony presents concerts throughout the year. During the summer, the Eau Claire area attracts  thousands of  people for both country and rock music festivals.
