Antigo is a thriving retail and business center for the north central part of Wisconsin.  It is home to 25 manufacturing companies, and also includes a strong retail and agricultural base. The Antigo area is rapidly earning a reputation as a great place to start and expand a business.  Economic growth over the past few years has progressed at an unprecedented rate, encouraging development, new business starts and a more diversified economic base.

Recreational Activities

Whether you're walking, hiking, driving, mountain biking, cross country skiing, ATVing, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling, the Antigo area has the perfect scenic trail or road just for you.  Nowhere in the Midwest is the snowmobiling better than in the Antigo area. With over 500 miles of groomed trails in the county, there is something for everyone. With miles of scenic, winding country roads and countless trails, you can explore the beauty of the Antigo area by any means of transport. 

If crystal clear lakes, rivers and streams interest you, there are countless bodies of water to choose from to enjoy swimming, boating, white river rafting, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing and more. The approximately 735 wilderness lakes scattered over the county as well as numerous rivers, streams and spring holes offer a broad range of fishing opportunities. Musky, trout, walleye, trophy largemouth bass, northern pike,  and a variety of pan fish are in abundance as well as brookies, rainbow and brown trout, and smallmouth bass.

The Antigo area is also a hunter's paradise. The heavily wooded areas surrounding Antigo are home to healthy populations of white tail deer, ruffed grouse, black bear and wild turkey.

Residents and visitors also enjoy downhill skiing,  golfing, sightseeing, camping and many other outdoor activities in fresh, unspoiled, scenic surroundings.
