MISSISSIPPI EXPLORER CRUISES
Join us for a "country road" riverboat cruise into the scenic and wild backwaters of the Mississippi River.
About Us. Explore More. See More. Unlike other local excursion boats, we explore the backwater reaches of one of the world's greatest eco-systems, the Mighty Mississippi, on a specially designed, catamaran-style riverboat. Our unique tours venture into the beautiful and protected backwaters of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish Refuge. These cruises include our famous Wildlife Eco-Tours, but also our Music on the River, Bald Eagle, Lotus & Lily, and Fall Foliage cruises. These scenic backwaters are untouchable by other local riverboats that are restricted to the Mississippi’s busy, interstate-like, main river channel.
Fully licensed and inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard, and with no hidden ticket costs or fees, you’ll find our rates very affordable and family friendly. To save even more, bring your own snacks and beverages onboard!
About the Refuge. The 261-mile refuge, with 240,000 acres of wooded islands, marshes, and backwaters, is the longest river refuge in the continental United States and is home to nesting Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Pelicans, Egrets, Muskrats, 119 species of fish, over 600 plants, and much more! Binoculars and cameras are always suggested on our backwater adventures!
What is an Eco-Tour? Our Eco-Tours are about connecting people with nature and conservation, specifically the ecosystem of the Mississippi River. We expect to see many of the animals that call the refuge home, but if not, the landscape is always exceptional. With large sliding-glass windows, our boats are fully enclosed and have heat, AC, and restrooms onboard. Professionally guided by qualified experts, our backwater cruises are a safe, educational, and relaxing way to enjoy America’s River!
Mississippi Explorer Cruises was recognized by "Women's Day" magazine as one of their "25 Memorable Summer Vacations."
